The 29th of October is the anniversary of the Turkish Republic and it is the most important official holiday in Turkey. This day is also celebrated as Turkish Day officially in the state of Massachusetts. Given the importance of the day, every year we celebrate it on MIT campus with a large scale reception. This year’s reception (1st of November) will feature a Turkish dinner, and a dance show by Mavi Dance, which is a Boston based dance company. Mavi Dance combines elements of different cultural dances, including Turkish, Russian and Irish dances. Moreover, Mavi prides itself on its diversity, with a roster of dancers that includes numerous ethnic groups, nationalities and religions.
