Bayraktar completed Construction Engineering Department of Istanbul State Architecture & Engineering Academy.

Erdogan Bayraktar has been appointed as the head of newly created Environment & Urbanization Ministry.

Born in the northern province of Trabzon in 1948, Bayraktar completed Construction Engineering Department of Istanbul State Architecture & Engineering Academy, and earned a masters degree in Construction Engineering in Istanbul University.

He had been an assembly member in Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality and Eminonu Municipality for ten years, and then worked for KIPTAS (Istanbul Housing and Public Works Planning Industry Corp.) for 4.5 years, and became the president of TOKI (Housing Development Administration of Turkey) for eight years.

Bayraktar is married with five children and speaks English.
