Minister for EU Affairs and Chief Negotiator Egemen Bagis stated that the aim of Turkey’s full membership has an unifying function.
In the framework for his visit, he met with the Vice President of the European Commission for Enterprise and Industry Guenter Verheugen; the European Commissioner for Energy Andris Piebalgs; European Commissioner for Institutional Relations & Communication Strategy Margot Wallstrom, European Commissioner for Transport Antonio Tajani; the Chairman of the Committee on Foreign Affairs of the European Parliament Jacek Saryusz-Wolski; Turkey rapporteur Ria Oomen-Ruijten; and the co-chairman of Turkey-EU Joint Parliament Committee Joost Lagendijk.

Devlet Bakanı ve Başmüzakereci Egemen Bağış, AB tam üyelik hedefinin Türkiye’de “birleştirici tutkal” işlevi gördüğünü söyledi.
Bakan Bağış, Brüksel ziyareti kapsamında AB Komisyonunun işletmeler ve sanayiden sorumlu Başkan Yardımcısı Günter Verheugen, AB Komisyonu’nun enerjiden sorumlu üyesi Andris Piebalgs, Avrupa Parlamentosu’nda (AP) Dış İlişkiler Komitesi Başkanı Jacek Saryusz-Wolski, Türkiye Raportörü Ria Oomen-Ruijten ile Türkiye-AB Karma Parlamento Komisyonu Eşbaşkanı Joost Lagendijk, AB Komisyonu’nun iletişimden sorumlu Başkan Yardımcısı Margot Wallström ve AB Komisyonunun ulaştırmadan sorumlu Başkan Yardımcısı Antonio Tajani ile temaslarda bulundu.
