Press Release: For Immediate Release

The Federation of Canadian Turkish Associations (FCTA) strongly condemns the killing of senior Iraqi Turkmen officials in a suicide bombing in the city of Tuz Khurmatu on June 25 in the wake of increasing violence across the country.
FCTA is in  “deep sadness” over the killing of deputy head of the Iraqi Turkmen Front, Ali Haşim Muhtaroğlu.  The suicide attack in the Salahaddin province of Iraq, where most of the population is Turkmen, killed eight people including the deputy head of Iraqi Turkmen Front and deputy governor of Salahaddin, Ahmet Koca.FCTA has learned about the incident sadly. FCTA strongly condemns the terror acts targeting Iraq’s Turkmen minority in Iraq”
It is hard to comprehend the magnitude of such a senseless and violent act which specifically targeted civilians. It is also hard to imagine the depth of sorrow and grief of the relatives of the victims. May peace be upon those who lost their lives in this suicide attack, adding the incident would not deter World from its determination to fight with the terrorism.

On behalf of Canadian Turkish community, the Federation of Canadian Turkish Associations-FCTA  mourns the loss of Deputy Head of Iraqi Turkmen Front Ali Hasim Muhtaroğlu, his two sons, as well as a former provincial councilor, and other civilians and offers its condolences to the families of all who have perished at the hands of the terrorism while wishing a speedy recovery to those injured as a result of this atrocious act.

FCTA urges Iraqi Government to take necessary actions to prevent such future violent and inhumane acts on Turkmens in Iraq.

Sincerely,
Executive Committee, Federation of Canadian Turkish Associations (FCTA)
