DUYURU

1.       Guney Avustralya Parlamentosu ust kanadi Yasama Konseyi’nin (Legislative Council) (Yasama Konseyi) “Ermeni soykirimini insanliga karsi islenmis en buyuk suclardan biri olarak tanidigi”na iliskin bir onergeyi 25 Mart 2009 tarihinde kabul ettigi ogrenilmistir.

2.       Guney Avustralya Parlamentosu Yasama Konseyi’nde Liberal Muhalefet lideri David Ridgway tarafindan sunulan ve Isci Partili Bernard Finnigan tarafindan desteklenen onergede, Avustralya Federal Hukumeti de 1915 olaylarini resmen “soykirim” olarak tanimaya cagrilmaktadir. Guney Avustralya Parlamentosu’nda kabul edilen onergenin metni asagida sunulmaktadir:

“The Hon. D. W. Ridgway, pursuant to notice, moved – That this Council recognises that the Armenian Genocide is one of the greatest crimes against humanity and –

I.      joins the members of the Armenian-Australian community in honouring the memory of the innocent men, women and children who fell victim to this genocide;

II.    condemns the genocide of the Armenians and all other acts of genocide as the ultimate act of racial, religious and cultural intolerance;

III.   recognises the importance of remembering and learning from such dark chapters in human history to ensure that such crimes against humanity are not allowed to be repeated;

IV.   acknowledges the significant humanitarian contribution made by the people of South Australia to the victims and survivors of the Armenian Genocide; and

V.    calls on the Commonwealth Government to officially condemn the genocide of the Armenians.

On motion of the Hon. T. J. Stephens, the debate was adjourned until Wednesday, 25 March 2009.”

3.       Guney Avustralya eyaletinin, uzun bir suredir ulkemize hasim gruplarin yogun etkisi altinda bulundugu ve bu baglamda sozkonusu karsit gruplarin kampanyalarinin odagi haline geldigi gozlenmektedir.

4.       Konu Buyukelciligimizce yakindan izlenmekte ve gerek Federal gerek yerel duzeyde her turlu girisim yapilmaktadir. Bununla birlikte, Avustralya toplumuna katkilari tum kesimlerce takdir edilen degerli vatandaslarimizin, ulkemiz aleyhindeki asilsiz iddialari siyasete alet eden bu girisime karsi sessiz kalmayacaklari dusunulmekte; vatandaslarimiz ve soydaslarimizin hassasiyetlerini ve tepkilerini demokratik ve yasal yollardan etkin sekilde ortaya koyarak, anilan girisimi protesto etmelerinden memnuniyet duyulacaktir.
