| On 19 May 2015, pending weather, Erden Eruç, the Guinness World Record holder for the first solo circumnavigation by human power, will take on a memorial challenge for the Centenary of the Gallipoli Campaign. Erden and Australian Kendon Glass will launch from New York City together in a rowboat. They will row across the Atlantic Ocean flying Turkish, Australian and New Zealand flags, progressing during the same months that the Gallipoli Campaign took place a century prior. British-Australian Mark Gasson will take Kendon’s place on the Mediterranean Sea. They will arrive at the battle grounds in time for the multiflag 101st Anniversary Commemorations and the Dawn Service at the ANZAC Cove on 25 April 2016.This journey will have educational goals and will be a fundraiser for AKUT, the premier search and rescue NGO in Turkey, and also for DefenceCare which provides support for returned diggers in Australia who suffer from PTSD and homelessness.
