The International Journal Iran and the Caucasus
\n(;<\/span><\/span> Brill: Leiden-Boston), the Department of
\nIranian Studies at Yerevan State University, the Makhtumquli Feraqi
\nCentre for Turkic Studies at ARYA International University (Yerevan),
\nthe Association for the Study of Persianate Societies (Armenian
\nBranch), in collaboration with the International Society for the Study
\nof Iran and the Caucasus (ISSIC;
\nhttp:\/\/www.armacad.org\/iranocaucasica<\/span><\/span>), Caucasian Centre for Iranian
\nStudies (Yerevan), the Armenian-Turkmen Cooperation Centre “Partev”
\n(Yerevan), and the Armenian Association for Academic Partnership and
\nSupport – ARMACAD (http:\/\/www.armacad.org\/;<\/span><\/span> Yerevan) are organising an
\ninternational conference entitled “The Turkic World, the Caucasus, and
\nIran: Civilisational Crossroads of Interactions”.<\/p>\n

The Conference will be held on July 10-12, 2009.
\nVenue: ARYA International University, Yerevan, Armenia.<\/p>\n

The region of civilisational interactions from Central Asia to Eastern
\nEurope and from Southern Russia to Iran has been one of the focal
\ngeographical points in world history. The main cultural, political and
\ncivilisational players in this domain have been the Iranian and Turkic
\npeoples, while the Caucasus and the Transcaucasian region with their
\ncultural, ethnographical and linguistic uniqueness have served as a
\nconnecting link and an arena for wars and peaceful cohabitation.
\nThough the main stress of the conference will be on cultures,
\nhistories (including archaeology, etc.), languages and the literatures
\nof this vast area, presentations on modern political and regional
\nissues, as well as the human ecology topics are also welcomed. The
\nconference seeks to emphasise links between the Turkic world, the
\nCaucasus, and Iran.<\/p>\n

Working languages – English and Russian.<\/p>\n

Abstracts (not to exceed 300 words) are to be submitted via the web
\nform (http:\/\/www.armacad.org\/civilizationica\/abstracts.php<\/span><\/span>) by
\nFebruary 20, 2009.\u00a0 A brief biography, including contact details, is
\nalso to be included.<\/p>\n

Once your materials have been submitted, a confirmation letter will be
\nreturned. If you do not receive a confirmation e-mail within 7 days,
\nthen we have not received your materials. Only in this case, please

A notification of acceptance will be sent by March 30, 2009.<\/p>\n

All whose abstracts are accepted for presentation at the conference
\nhave to send to the Conference Organising Committee 10 Euros before
\nJune 10 in order to ensure their participation. This amount of money
\nwill be reduced from the participation fee.<\/p>\n

Participation Fee:<\/p>\n

The conference participation fee is 70 Euros and a reduced rate of 35
\nEuros for postgraduate students. Participants from the Caucasus and
\nCentral Asia will pay 35 Euros.<\/p>\n
