{"id":7900,"date":"2008-12-04T21:30:09","date_gmt":"2008-12-04T18:30:09","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.turkishnews.com\/en\/content\/?p=7900"},"modified":"2012-09-18T14:25:16","modified_gmt":"2012-09-18T11:25:16","slug":"pre-ottoman-and-ottoman-symposium-in-bishkek-aug-24-29-2009","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.turkishnews.com\/en\/content\/2008\/12\/04\/pre-ottoman-and-ottoman-symposium-in-bishkek-aug-24-29-2009\/","title":{"rendered":"Pre-Ottoman and Ottoman Symposium in Bishkek, Aug. 24-29, 2009"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Kyrgyz-Turkish Manas University<\/p>\n<p>International Committee of Pre-Ottoman and Ottoman Studies (CIEPO)<\/p>\n<p>Interim Symposium<\/p>\n<p>On the Central Asiatic Roots of the Pre-Ottoman and Ottoman Culture<br \/>\nAugust 24-29, 2009, <span class=\"yshortcuts\">Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan<\/span><\/p>\n<p>First Circular<\/p>\n<p>We are pleased to announce that the CIEPO Symposium on the Central<br \/>\nAsiatic Roots of the pre-Ottoman and Ottoman Culture will be held at<br \/>\nKyrgyz-Turkish Manas University, Bishkek, 24-29 August, 2009.<\/p>\n<p>The Organizing Committee calls for your presentation of current<br \/>\nresearch on the Central Asiatic roots of the pre-Ottoman and Ottoman<br \/>\nculture related to the themes of administrative, social, economic,<br \/>\nmilitary,\u00a0 political aspects, as well as medicine, science,<br \/>\narchitecture, education, trade, historiography, literature and<br \/>\ninternational relations.<\/p>\n<p>Individual papers will be organized into sections by the Organizing<br \/>\nCommittee.\u00a0 Abstracts for individual papers should not exceed 300<br \/>\nwords. The desirable duration of a <span class=\"yshortcuts\" style=\"#0066cc 1px dashed;\">paper presentation<\/span> is 15 minutes;<br \/>\nit should not exceed <span class=\"yshortcuts\">20 minutes<\/span>. In case it becomes necessary to limit<br \/>\nthe number of papers, the selection will be made by members of the<br \/>\nOrganizing Committee.<\/p>\n<p>Pre-organized panels\/sessions and thematic workshops should consist of<br \/>\ntwo to three papers, plus an analysis of them by a discussant (or a<br \/>\ndesignated chair) of ten to fifteen minutes maximum length. The papers<br \/>\nshould center on a single theme or question, and the panel proposal<br \/>\nshould include an abstract (300 words maximum) for the entire panel<br \/>\nexplaining its theme and rationale and how the individual papers<br \/>\ncontribute to that theme, in addition to an individual abstract (300<br \/>\nwords maximum) for each paper.\u00a0 In case it becomes necessary to limit<br \/>\nthe number of papers, the selection will be made by members of the<br \/>\nOrganizing Committee.<\/p>\n<p>The participants are requested to send Registration Form by the end of<br \/>\nDecember 2008 (request by email from organizers).\u00a0 The deadline for<br \/>\nthe paper titles and abstracts and\/or the initial proposals and<br \/>\nabstracts for pre-organized sessions and workshops abstracts is by the<br \/>\nend of January 2009.<\/p>\n<p>The symposium languages are English, French, German and Turkish.<\/p>\n<p>Participants are requested to finance their <span class=\"yshortcuts\">own travel expenses<\/span> and<br \/>\naccommodation. The registration fee for the symposium is 50 (USD)<br \/>\nwhich should be paid to the accounts opened on behalf of the CIEPO (we<br \/>\nexpect to give the name of bank and account number in 2nd circular).<br \/>\nThe CIEPO membership should be paid 10 (USD) in advance as well.<\/p>\n<p>The fees are intended to cover the expenses of lunch, farewell dinner<br \/>\nand excursion.
