The Institute for Cultural Diplomacy (ICD) is currently seeking\u00a0applicants\u00a0for participation in The Germany Meets Turkey Symposium on Cultural\u00a0Diplomacy in Berlin between the 26th and 30th of January 2009.<\/p>\n
=== About the Symposium ===
\nThe weeklong symposium will offer diverse participants the opportunity\u00a0to\u00a0explore and improve diplomacy at the level of social relations between\u00a0Germany and Turkey. Participants will meet in some of Berlin’s most
\nprominent sites, where the issues of cultural diplomacy between the\u00a0two\u00a0countries are most closely felt: the Bundestag, the Ausw\u00e4rtiges Amt,\u00a0the\u00a0Kreuzberg Museum, and Berlin City Hall. Symposium workshops and
\ndiscussions\u00a0with experts will cover not only legal and institutional aspects of\u00a0the\u00a0complex relationship between the two societies but will also examine\u00a0firsthand the daily effect of this relationship as well as mutual\u00a0cultural\u00a0contributions.<\/p>\n
=== About the Organizers ===
\nThe ICD is an international, not-for-profit, non-governmental\u00a0organization\u00a0working to improve intercultural relations by organizing and\u00a0researching\u00a0initiatives that facilitate intercultural exchange. Germany Meets
\nTurkey-A\u00a0Forum for Young Leaders is an interdisciplinary network which\u00a0organizes\u00a0bilateral events such as yearly study tours and whose activities are\u00a0supported by the Istanbul Policy Center at Sabanci University as well\u00a0as the\u00a0Robert Bosch Stiftung in Germany. === How to Apply ===
\nThe Symposium is designed especially for young academics and advanced\u00a0university students from both Turkey and Germany. Applicants from\u00a0other\u00a0countries with a strong interest and background in Turkish or German\u00a0studies\u00a0are also eligible for consideration. \nDas einw\u00f6chige Symposium wird unterschiedlichen Teilnehmern die\u00a0Gelegenheit\u00a0bieten, Diplomatie auf der Ebene sozialer Beziehungen zwischen\u00a0Deutschland\u00a0und der T\u00fcrkei zu erforschen und zu verbessern. Die Teilnehmer werden\u00a0an\u00a0einigen der prominentesten Orte in Berlin, an denen die Probleme\u00a0kultureller
\nDiplomatie zwischen der T\u00fcrkei und Deutschland am sp\u00fcrbarsten sind,\u00a0zusammenkommen: im Bundestag, im Ausw\u00e4rtigen Amt, im Kreuzberg Museum\u00a0und im\u00a0Berliner Rathaus. Die Workshops und Diskussionen des Symposiums werden\u00a0nicht\u00a0nur rechtliche und institutionelle Aspekte der komplexen Beziehung\u00a0zwischen
\nbeiden Gesellschaften n\u00e4her betrachten, sondern auch Gelegenheit\u00a0bieten, die\u00a0t\u00e4glichen Auswirkungen dieser Beziehung und ihre wechselseitigen\u00a0kulturellen\u00a0Beitr\u00e4ge pers\u00f6nlich zu untersuchen.<\/p>\n
