Bag\u0131s gave a lecture titled \u201cThe Future of Turkey-EU relations\u201d.<\/h2>\n

\"110807\"Turkey’s EU Minister Egemen Bag\u0131s said that if the political blockade before Turkey in the EU negotiation process is lifted, it can open, in the technical sense, 10 chapters in 12 months and 15 chapters in 18 months for negotiations.<\/p>\n

Bag\u0131s gave a lecture titled \u201cThe Future of Turkey-EU relations\u201d at Stockholm University during his visit to Sweden.<\/p>\n

Touching on deep-rooted relations between Turkey and Sweden in his speech, Ba\u011f\u0131\u015f said that today the two countries have good relations.<\/p>\n

Bag\u0131s said that he is pleased with Sweden\u2019s support for Turkey\u2019s EU membership.<\/p>\n

Stating that the EU is going through one of the worst crises in history, Bag\u0131s said that this crisis is not only economic but also political, quoting some experts as saying that this crisis stems from Europeans not having confidence in the \u201cEuropean integration project.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cNew members, who have high performance, will contribute to EU having a more important place in the global system. Turkey will significantly contribute to Europe\u2019s future\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Bag\u0131s pointed out that Turkey is an important regional and international player with its gradually increasing power and sound economy, underlining that the Turkish economy is Europe\u2019s fastest growing economy.<\/p>\n

\u201cTurkey can share costs for the Euro zone crisis to be solved\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Bag\u0131s said that Turkey can also contribute to EU\u2019s foreign and security policies.<\/p>\n

\u201cTurkey represents a new center of gravity stretching from the Balkans to North Africa. Its historic ties and experiences in the recent past with the Balkans, Caucasus and Middle East, can contribute to Turkey\u2019s shaping EU\u2019s policies on these significant and sensitive regions\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

Reminding that Turkey has recently released its own progress report, Ba\u011f\u0131\u015f said that this report indicates Turkey\u2019s determination.<\/p>\n
