Main opposition leader Kemal K\u0131l\u0131\u00e7daro\u011flu is planning an extended trip to Iraq to both the capital and the country\u2019s Kurdish north, not long after Turkey\u2019s energy minister was prevented from flying directly to Arbil by Baghdad, Hurriyet reports.<\/p>\n
\u201cA new invitation came and I accepted. I am planning to go to Baghdad on plane and return to Turkey by highway. I\u2019d like to visit Kirkuk and Arbil and meet with [Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) leader Masoud] Barzani if the conditions are OK,\u201d Republican People\u2019s Party (CHP) head K\u0131l\u0131\u00e7daro\u011flu told reporters Dec. 7, adding that the invitation has stood for a long time. Responding to a question on whether he would comment on the denial of Energy Minister Taner Y\u0131ld\u0131z\u2019s inability to fly to Arbil during his visit in Baghdad, K\u0131l\u0131\u00e7daro\u011flu said he did not know if the issue would come to the table, but that \u201cwe always defend our country\u2019s interests everywhere.\u201d<\/p>\n
K\u0131l\u0131\u00e7daro\u011flu said he did not feel comfortable when Y\u0131lmaz\u2019s flight to the northern Iraqi city of Arbil was denied by Baghdad, adding that he was surprised by the official\u2019s passive reaction to the slight.<\/p>\n
\u201cNo Turkish minister\u2019s visit has been denied by either Iraq or any other country throughout the history of the Turkish Republic. I can\u2019t stomach this situation Turkey is experiencing in its foreign policy. I can\u2019t understand how the minister could stomach it,\u201d said K\u0131l\u0131\u00e7daro\u011flu.<\/p>\n
