According to research from currency specialist Travelex.co.uk,<\/p>\n
Britons get 10% more for their pound as sterling has rallied against the Turkish lira compared with last year.<\/p>\n
A double room at the four-star Lara Park Hotel by the beach would set back two adults \u00a3426 a week.<\/p>\n
A similar room at Torquay\u2019s four-star Braddon Hall Hotel is \u00a3518.<\/p>\n
A three-course meal with wine is almost half the price in Turkey at \u00a330.50 a head while a pint of beer is \u00a31.86 compared to \u00a33.20 in Torquay.<\/p>\n
A spa day is almost 50% cheaper at \u00a370, cocktails are a bargain and a trip to a model village costs over three times less.<\/p>\n
Even travel is cheaper. Return flights for two from Gatwick to Antalya are \u00a3368. To fly from the same airport to Exeter, which is a \u00a320 cab ride to Torquay, would cost \u00a3525.<\/p>\n
Even train passengers could shell out more \u2013 with a last-minute London to Torquay return rail trip coming in at \u00a3472.<\/p>\n
Travelex\u2019s Peter Davies said: \u201cIt\u2019s incredible to think Brits can save money by travelling to Turkey rather than staying put on their home soil.<\/p>\n
\u201cWhat\u2019s more, it\u2019s pretty much guaranteed sunshine in the summer, which is a lot more than can be said for Torquay.\u201d<\/p>\n
