McDonalds Ireland has distanced itself from a delivery service set to launch in Dublin next week.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>FAST FOOD CHAIN McDonalds has distanced itself from a soon-to-launch Dublin service which says it will offer a weekend delivery service for fans of the restaurants.<\/p>\n<p>A Facebook page for the \u2018Mc Donalds Delivery Dublin\u2019 service was set up on Facebook on Monday \u2013 and had already accumulated over 6,000 fans by this afternoon, ahead of a launch next weekend.<\/p>\n<p>The service said it would offer home deliveries of McDonalds food between 6pm and 6am on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays \u2013 and its creators had insisted that it was a legitimate business, with their Facebook page complete with McDonald\u2019s branding.<\/p>\n<p>This afternoon, however, McDonalds spokesman Ray Farrelly told TheJournal.ie that the service was \u201cabsolutely not\u201d an official McDonald\u2019s operation, underlining that home deliveries were \u201cnot something that we do at all\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThese guys have set themselves up as a private enterprise \u2013 it\u2019s not something we condone because it\u2019s up to our customers to choose,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere\u2019s not a huge lot we can do, but they definitely don\u2019t have anything to do with us.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>This afternoon the Facebook page had its \u2018golden arches\u2019 branding removed, and previous declarations that the business was affiliated to the fast food chain had been removed.<\/p>\n<p>Its administrators disclosed that they \u201chave absolutely no association with McDonalds whatsoever and do not claim to, nor wish to represent, McDonalds in any form\u201d, and that their service was merely a delivery and concierge offering for people who wanted food bought and delivered on their behalf.<\/p>\n<p>Farrelly said that while McDonalds did offer home deliveries in some Asian countries such as Singapore, this was only viable in city-state environments were distribution times were not too long.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFrom our perspective we wouldn\u2019t be comfortable doing it because we couldn\u2019t stand over the quality of the food,\u201d he said. \u201cAnything over ten to 15 minutes and we couldn\u2019t guarantee the quality or the temperature of the product.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The delivery service asserted, however, that its delivery vehicles would be fully equipped with \u201cthe necessary catering fixtures to ensure food arrives hot, and drinks arrive chilled\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>The service will begin operations on Friday 6 May, delivering to Dublin 4, 6, 6w, 14, 16 and 18.<\/p>\n<p>via McDonalds distances itself from Facebook-based Dublin delivery service \u00b7 TheJournal.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>FAST FOOD CHAIN McDonalds has distanced itself from a soon-to-launch Dublin service which says it will offer a weekend delivery service for fans of the restaurants.
