Unfortunately it is not as easy as English. In English you just put <strong>\u2018s<\/strong> to indicate the possession for example;<\/p>\n<p>Selma\u2019s pen, Kerry\u2019s hair.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>In Turkish after the person\u2019s name you bring <strong>\u2018\u0131n, \u2018in, \u2018un, \u2018\u00fcn. <\/strong>It does not stop there you also need to put the possessive suffix after the word which is possessed. Examples will make it more clear;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Ahmet<strong>\u2019in<\/strong> kalem<strong>i<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Susan<strong>\u2019\u0131n <\/strong>defter<strong>i<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>John<strong>\u2019un <\/strong>ev<strong>i<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Sultan<strong>\u2019\u0131n <\/strong>makas<strong>\u0131<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Darren<strong>\u2019\u0131n <\/strong>sa\u00e7<strong>\u0131<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>*Efe<strong>\u2019nin <\/strong>k\u0131z arkada\u015f<strong>\u0131<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>*<\/strong>Ayla<strong>\u2019n\u0131n <\/strong>araba<strong>s\u0131<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong> <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>* The letters in blue are the <strong>buffer letters<\/strong> which we mentioned before. They are there to help us to pronounce the words easily. In Turkish it is very unlikely to have 2 wovels one after another in the same syllable. When this happens we need to put a buffer letter between 2 vowels. But once you get used to the rules it will all come naturally and you will not think about the letters, vowels, buffers&#8230;. This is why Turkish is best learn by hearing it.
