At the beginning of the month, I posted some news about the Ergenekon gang that had been published in Taraf<\/span>. At the time, I mentioned that the nexus of the Ergenekon indictment could be found in a weirdo named Tuncay G\u00fcney:<\/p>\n

It would appear, however, that the lies surrounding the issue of “The Antidote” stem from Tuncay G\u00fcney, a one-time, small-time journalist in whose possession the original Ergenekon documents were found in 2001. G\u00fcney has been linked to Fethullah G\u00fclen<\/span> and G\u00fclen’s Samanyolu TV. G\u00fcney claims to have brought the photos of \u00d6calan and Perin\u00e7ek to M\u0130T. He claims to have taken a bribe of $15,000 to PKK in order not to shut down G\u00fclen’s schools in Hewler, although how PKK would have had any control over anything in Hewler is a huge question. Perhaps the KDP took the bribe by introducing themselves as PKK members? G\u00fcney also cla\u0131ms to have delivered money from Fethullah G\u00fclen to ultra-fascist Muhsin Yaz\u0131c\u0131o\u011flu so that he could establish the BBP.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Zaman<\/span> has some additional weird tidbits<\/span> about G\u00fcney:<\/p>\n

“Meanwhile, in an interview with the Yeni \u015eafak daily, Tuncay G\u00fcney, a former journalist whose ties with various secret services, both domestic and international, have been documented, stated that Kurdish separatist terrorism would come to an end if the Ergenekon gang wanted that to happen. G\u00fcney, who now lives in Canada and works as a rabbi, has suspected ties to the group. G\u00fcney came to prominence when the first documents related to the Ergenekon gang were seized on his computer in a 2001 police raid.<\/p>\n

“G\u00fcney, currently a rabbi at the Jacobs House Jewish Community Center in Toronto, praised Ergenekon prosecutor Zekeriya \u00d6z for having “done a great job” so far in the investigation, although he expressed doubts that the operation would be very successful in the end. “However, they are very close to the end and I think it is very difficult moving on further from this point. There is no power in Turkey that can stop Ergenekon,” he said, expressing doubts that the investigation will bring about the collapse of the crime group.”<\/p>\n

A check of YouTube<\/span> reveals that G\u00fcney does, in fact, appear to be a member of an Orthodox Jewish community in Toronto, although he now denies any connection with Fethullah G\u00fclen, as his appearance on Mehmet Ali Birand’s 32. G\u00fcn<\/span> indicates. If the first Ergenekon documents were found in G\u00fcney’s possession, why has he not been indicted? Did he cut a deal and, if so, what kind of deal was it? Is his life now, in an Orthodox Jewish community in Toronto some kind of strange “witness protection” program?<\/div>\n

Now, there’s more from G\u00fcney on the connect\u0131on between the Ergenekon gang, Fethullah G\u00fclen, and G\u00fclen’s schools in South Kurdistan, from Milliyet<\/span>:<\/div>\n<\/blockquote>\n

K\u00fc\u00e7\u00fck knows G\u00fclen for a long time<\/span>\u00a0<\/p>\n

G\u00fcney, in his statement in 2001, claims that he and Mehmet Demircan, an important name in Fethullah G\u00fclen’s movement, spent intense efforts to gain K\u00fc\u00e7\u00fck into the movement and that the two [G\u00fclen and K\u00fc\u00e7\u00fck]<\/span> knew each other for a long time.<\/p>\n

Tuncay G\u00fcney’s statement in 2001, which he gave to Istanbul police, is one of the most fundamental pieces of evidence that Ergenekon prosecutor Zekeriya \u00d6z, is working on. In this statement, Tuncay G\u00fcney gave a detailed explanation of Fethullah G\u00fclen’s movement. In the Ergenekon indictment’s 442nd file, there are interesting claims that G\u00fcney made. Here, G\u00fcney claims that, since the 1970s, Fethullah G\u00fclen knew retired Brigadier General Veli K\u00fc\u00e7\u00fck, who is under arrest in the Ergenekon case, from the right-wing National Struggle Movement (MMH). G\u00fcney explained that he learned that K\u00fc\u00e7\u00fck and Fethullah G\u00fclen knew each other for a long time, while he and one of G\u00fclen’s prominent members, Mehmet Demircan, made efforts to gain K\u00fc\u00e7\u00fck to the movement.<\/p>\n

“All of them are strugglers for nationalism”<\/span><\/p>\n

When Tuncay G\u00fcney was detained in 2001 for by Istanbul police for fraud, he was working for Samanyolu TV, which is linked to the Fethullah G\u00fclen movement. In the statement he gave to police while under interrogation, he pointed out that taking advantage of his position, he had the possibility to meet with important names in Fethullah G\u00fclen’s movement.<\/p>\n

Within this framework, G\u00fcney mentions that he and Demircan tried to gain, the then active duty Veli K\u00fc\u00e7\u00fck, for the movement. “When we gain him, we will be more powerful in the eyes of Fethullah G\u00fclen,” G\u00fcney says.<\/p>\n

Again, referring to Demircan, Tuncay G\u00fcney ascribed the information that G\u00fclen knew Veli K\u00fc\u00e7\u00fck from the National Strugglers’ Movement. “Look at all of Fethullah G\u00fclen’s members; they are all National Strugglers,” he said.<\/p>\n

Support for G\u00fclen’s schools<\/span><\/p>\n

In his statement, G\u00fcney said that Veli K\u00fc\u00e7\u00fck helped Fethullah G\u00fclen to open a school in Northern Iraq [South Kurdistan]. According to G\u00fcney’s statement, they had stopped in Diyarbak\u0131r, where they were on the way to Erbil, in order to open private Irbil Light College. There (in Diyarbak\u0131r), they called Veli K\u00fc\u00e7\u00fck to let him know they were there, thus Jandarma Regional Commander E\u015fref Hatipo\u011flu met them. Hatipo\u011flu sent G\u00fcney and G\u00fclen’s members to Silopi in a military helicopter. From there, the group passed to Nehciban (there he means Ne\u00e7irvan) and talked to Barzani and Talabani.<\/p>\n

“Veli K\u00fc\u00e7\u00fck’s teacher collared Erdo\u011fan”<\/span><\/p>\n

G\u00fcney also made a statement about field officer Necabettin Ergenekon’s involvement with G\u00fclen’s movement. According to G\u00fcney, Necabettin Ergenekon was K\u00fc\u00e7\u00fck’s teacher. According to G\u00fcney’s claims, Necabettin Ergenekon had talks with R. Tayyip Erdo\u011fan, then the Refah Partisi (RP) Istanbul chairman. In one of these talks, Ergenekon caught Erdo\u011fan by the collar and shook him. According to Guney’s statement, Erdo\u011fan, in RP’s Tepeba\u015f\u0131 office, was having a discussion with Necabettin Ergenekon about pan-Islamism. Then Ergenekon became nervous and grabbed Erdo\u011fan by the collar saying, “This is bullshit, Tayyip; there won’t be pan-Islamism if there isn’t Turkism.”<\/p>\n

G\u00fcney said that the person who introduced him to Veli K\u00fc\u00e7\u00fck, was Veli K\u00fc\u00e7\u00fck’s teacher, Ergenekon. “The field officer in Izmit (Veli K\u00fc\u00e7\u00fck), is my student. I’ll take you and introduce you to him” said Ergenekon according to G\u00fcney.<\/p>\n

It was claimed that K\u00fc\u00e7\u00fck had named the Ergenekon organization after his teacher’s last name.<\/p>\n

He spied for Eym\u00fcr about G\u00fclen<\/span><\/p>\n

In his statement, G\u00fcney said that when he was in Fethullah G\u00fclen’s movement, he was regularly informing M\u0130T chairman Mehmet Eym\u00fcr’s staff. G\u00fcney said, “When I was working there, Mehmet Eym\u00fcr’s men would come and get information periodically . . . Besides this information, they were asking about the hot issues in the movement anyway.”<\/p><\/div>\n

In February, as war preparations against South Kurdistan were underway, N\u00ea\u00e7\u00eervan Barzan\u00ee and the KRG gave the go-ahead for the foundation of a new G\u00fclen university in Hewl\u00ear.\u00a0<\/p>\n

There was no mention of anyone having given PKK a $15,000 bribe in connection with this G\u00fclen enterprise, but that may be because any bribes would actually be given to the ceh\u015f of the KRG who are only too happy to contribute to the destruction of the Kurdish people for a price.<\/p><\/div>\n<\/blockquote>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
