{"id":29554,"date":"2010-12-23T17:26:57","date_gmt":"2010-12-23T15:26:57","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.turkishforum.com.tr\/en\/content\/?p=29554"},"modified":"2014-01-06T00:39:47","modified_gmt":"2014-01-05T22:39:47","slug":"metro-on-istanbuls-anatolian-side-to-have-cars-without-conductors","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.turkishnews.com\/en\/content\/2010\/12\/23\/metro-on-istanbuls-anatolian-side-to-have-cars-without-conductors\/","title":{"rendered":"Metro on Istanbul&#8217;s Anatolian side to have cars &#8216;without conductors&#8217;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>ISTANBUL \u2013 H\u00fcrriyet Daily News<\/p>\n<p>The Istanbul mayor and other officials pose in their construction gear.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-29557\" src=\"https:\/\/www.turkishnews.com\/en\/content\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/12\/istanbuls-anatolian-side-meets-with-its-metro-in-2011-2010-12-22_l.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"452\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.turkishnews.com\/en\/content\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/12\/istanbuls-anatolian-side-meets-with-its-metro-in-2011-2010-12-22_l.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.turkishnews.com\/en\/content\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/12\/istanbuls-anatolian-side-meets-with-its-metro-in-2011-2010-12-22_l-199x300.jpg 199w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/>Istanbul will receive its first fully computerized metro trains in 2011, according to Istanbul Mayor Kadir Topba\u015f.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWith the advance technology we are using, the wagons will be able to enter into the system without the presence a conductor when required,\u201d Topba\u015f said Wednesday during a speech at the under-construction K\u00fc\u00e7\u00fckyal\u0131 Station on Istanbul Anatolian side.<\/p>\n<p>K\u00fc\u00e7\u00fckyolu is the ninth station on the 16-station Kad\u0131k\u00f6y-Kartal metro line.<\/p>\n<p>The construction of the metro line was started in March 2008 and was continuing apace, said Topba\u015f, adding that the 22-kilometer line was part of a metro project costing $1.5 billion.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn a single line 70,000 commuters will be transported an hour and the total commute time will be diminished to 29 minutes between Kad\u0131k\u00f6y and Kartal,\u201d said Topba\u015f, noting that approximately a million passengers would benefit from the metro line every day.<\/p>\n<p>Topba\u015f said 83 percent of the construction, 40 percent of the detailed work and 21 percent of the electro-mechanical work on the line had already been completed.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are hoping to do a test drive in May 2011 while the project will be ready for use at the end of 2011,\u201d said Topba\u015f.<\/p>\n<p>The construction of 15 of the 16 stations was continuing, while Ayr\u0131l\u0131k \u00c7e\u015fme, which the Kad\u0131k\u00f6y-Kartal line is sharing with the Marmaray rail project, was finished in December, said Topba\u015f, adding that they planned to extend the metro line to the Asian side\u2019s Sabiha G\u00f6k\u00e7en Airport in the upcoming years.<\/p>\n<p>The stations connecting Kad\u0131k\u00f6y and Kartal metro line include \u0130brahima\u011fa, Ac\u0131badem, \u00dcnalan, G\u00f6ztepe, Yeni Sahra, Kozyata\u011f\u0131, Bostanc\u0131, K\u00fc\u00e7\u00fckyal\u0131, Ayr\u0131l\u0131k \u00c7e\u015fme, Maltepe, G\u00fclsuyu, Cevizli, Hastane and So\u011fanl\u0131k.<\/p>\n<p>The metro project owned by the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality is being realized by Avrasya Metro Group, a joint venture of Astaldi, Mak-yol, and G\u00fclermak.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>ISTANBUL \u2013 H\u00fcrriyet Daily News The Istanbul mayor and other officials pose in their construction gear.
