President Abdullah Gul (pictured) would certainly like to see his country join that club, he told the FT\u2019s Tony Barber and Roula Khalaf in an interview today:<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-25297\" src=\"https:\/\/www.turkishnews.com\/en\/content\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/11\/gul1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"203\" height=\"152\" \/>Mr Gul said the international order was shifting towards the east and made clear he hoped Turkey\u2019s economic transformation would take it into the ranks of emerging Bric countries \u2013 Brazil, Russia, India and China. \u201cIt wouldn\u2019t be surprising if we start talking about Bric plus T,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Gul\u2019s comments come a day ahead of the EU\u2019s latest report on Turkey\u2019s progress toward membership in its own exclusive fraternity.
