{"id":24578,"date":"2010-11-01T12:22:20","date_gmt":"2010-11-01T10:22:20","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.turkishforum.com.tr\/en\/content\/?p=24578"},"modified":"2014-01-05T21:43:05","modified_gmt":"2014-01-05T19:43:05","slug":"1001-documentary-film-festival-opens-in-istanbul","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.turkishnews.com\/en\/content\/2010\/11\/01\/1001-documentary-film-festival-opens-in-istanbul\/","title":{"rendered":"1001 Documentary Film Festival Opens in Istanbul"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>\u0130stanbul&#8217;s film buffs are being treated to a weeklong fiesta of documentaries from 24 countries through next Thursday, thanks to the 13th \u0130stanbul International 1001 Documentary Film Festival, which got under way on Friday.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-24580\" src=\"https:\/\/www.turkishnews.com\/en\/content\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/11\/1001_film.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"250\" height=\"190\" \/>The festival, organized by the Association of Documentary Filmmakers in Turkey (BSB), is presenting a total of 68 films in admission free showings at the Muammer Karaca Theater, the Tar\u0131k Zafer Tunaya Cultural Center and the Goethe Institut on the European side, and at the Naz\u0131m Hikmet Cultural Center in Kad\u0131k\u00f6y.<\/p>\n<p>Among the 68 titles featured, 20 are from Turkey with the rest coming from a diverse set of countries, including Germany, Iran, Argentina, India, China, Ireland, France and the US, the Anatolia news agency reported this week.<\/p>\n<p>This year&#8217;s festival will introduce a special section called the Cinema Laboratory, which is a series of seminars on novel, experimental approaches in filmmaking. Under the supervision of Ersan Ocak, the seminars will not solely focus on documentary filmmaking, but also on the entire cinema industry, Anatolia said.<\/p>\n<p>The various sections in this year&#8217;s festival are \u201cWork and Labor,\u201d \u201cOf Hard Times,\u201d \u201cModern Times,\u201d \u201cOf Men and Women,\u201d \u201cAway from Home,\u201d \u201cArt and Passion\u201d and \u201cEnvironment.\u201d The majority of the films included in this year&#8217;s lineup were produced in the past two years, and most of them will be shown in Turkey for the first time, the organizers said.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>\u0130stanbul&#8217;s film buffs are being treated to a weeklong fiesta of documentaries from 24 countries through next Thursday, thanks to the 13th \u0130stanbul International 1001 Documentary Film Festival, which got under way on Friday.
