{"id":22319,"date":"2010-09-24T12:41:11","date_gmt":"2010-09-24T10:41:11","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.turkishforum.com.tr\/en\/content\/?p=22319"},"modified":"2023-04-14T13:59:57","modified_gmt":"2023-04-14T10:59:57","slug":"turkish-classical-pianist-wins-top-prize-in-germany","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.turkishnews.com\/en\/content\/2010\/09\/24\/turkish-classical-pianist-wins-top-prize-in-germany\/","title":{"rendered":"Turkish classical pianist wins top prize in Germany"},"content":{"rendered":"<figure id=\"attachment_22320\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-22320\" style=\"width: 200px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-22320\" src=\"https:\/\/www.turkishnews.com\/en\/content\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/09\/Elif-Sahin.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"200\" height=\"160\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-22320\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Turkish pianist Elif \u015eahin<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><strong>German-based young Turkish classical pianist Elif \u015eahin and her counterpart won the top prize at this year\u2019s Hugo Wolf International Competition for Lied in Germany, news agencies reported this week.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The duo made up of \u015eahin and soprano Annelie Sophie M\u00fcller came in first among the 12 finalists in the 2010 competition\u2019s finals, held from Sept. 14 to 19 at the State College of Music and Performing Arts in Stuttgart.<\/p>\n<p>\u015eahin and M\u00fcller, who are both studying at the Stuttgart State College of Music, were selected for the finals from among 114 entrants in this year\u2019s competition, whose jury was chaired by famous German mezzo-soprano Brigitte Fassbaender, the Anatolia news agency reported.<\/p>\n<p>Austrian soprano Birgid Steinberger, Dutch bass-baritone Robert Holl, Swiss baritone Kurt Widmer and pianists Wolfram Rieger from Germany and Graham Johnson from Britain were the other members of the judging panel.<\/p>\n<p>The \u015eahin-Muller pair won a cash prize of 20,000 euros and was invited to give a concert at the Stuttgart-based International Hugo Wolf Academy, which is organizing the competition.<\/p>\n<p>Held every three years, the Hugo Wolf International Competition for the Art of Lied is dedicated to a different composer in each edition.
