\nTurkey, has been appointed to the post of NATO Assistant Secretary
\nGeneral (ASG) for Defence Policy and Planning.<\/p>\n
\nNATO among Allies was one of the topics that we had emphasized during
\nthe appointment process of Secretary General Rasmussen. Through the
\nelection of Ambassador Diri\u00f6z as ASG, our expectation in this regard
\nhas been met.<\/p>\n
\npost of Assistant Secretary General, after a lapse of more than 30
\nyears. The election of Ambassador Diri\u00f6z, who has previously served on
\nthe International Secretariat at NATO and has comprehensive knowledge
\nof the topics currently on NATO’s agenda, will further strengthen our
