A breakfast meeting was held in London\u2019s Sofra Restaurant on Sunday 9th<\/sup> May 2010 to discuss the subject of the Cyprus Problem.\u00a0It was organised and hosted jointly by the\u00a0Association of Turkish Cypriots Abroad, Turkish Forum WTA, Cyprus Turkish Association and the UK Konsey.<\/p>\n

The guest and keynote speaker was world renowned historian and author Professor Dr. Sonyel.\u00a0He highlighted that historically the Turkish Cypriots\u00a0have been unjustly treated and continue to remain isolated in the World.\u00a0He concluded by saying that the\u00a0Greek Cypriot\u00a0strategy has always been to eradicate the\u00a0Turkish Cypriots\u00a0from the island of Cyprus. It is highly unlikely that they will accept any agreement based on equality of power and sovereignty.<\/p>\n

The meeting developed into general discussion points on how to be more effective and unitary principally against the Greek, Greek Cypriot and Armenian propaganda.<\/p>\n

It was unanimously agreed by all the NGOs present that all groups should put aside their past differences and unite as a stronger and effective lobby force.\u00a0It was generally agreed that they should use the relevant umbrella organisations such as the\u00a0UK Turkish Cypriot Konsey\u00a0and the Turkish Federation. Turkish Forum, World Turkish Alliance which serves Turkish communities worldwide will help co-ordinate efforts with its mass distribution lists, grassroots teams and distinguished advisors in five continents.<\/p>\n

Toplant\u0131ya ana konusmac\u0131 olarak misafir olan d\u00fcnyaca \u00fcnl\u00fc tarih\u00e7i ve yazar Profes\u00f6r\u00a0\u00a0Doktor Selahi Sonyel kat\u0131ld\u0131. Prof. Dr. Selahi Sonyel konu\u015fmas\u0131nda ge\u00e7mi\u015fte K\u0131br\u0131s T\u00fcrklerine kar\u015f\u0131 adil olmayan tav\u0131rlar\u0131n s\u00fcrd\u00fc\u011f\u00fcn\u00fc ve K\u0131br\u0131s T\u00fcrklerinin izolasyona u\u011frad\u0131\u011f\u0131n\u0131 irdeledi. Sonu\u00e7 olarak ta K\u0131br\u0131sl\u0131 Rumlar\u0131n K\u0131br\u0131sl\u0131 T\u00fcrklere uygulad\u0131klar\u0131 stratejinin her zaman K\u0131br\u0131s T\u00fcrklerini adadan def etmek oldu\u011funu belirtti. K\u0131br\u0131sl\u0131 Rumlar\u0131n, e\u015fit olan iki halk olarak adada hakimiyet payla\u015f\u0131m\u0131n\u0131\u00a0kabul\u00a0ederek\u00a0antla\u015fmaya varmalar\u0131n\u0131n \u00e7ok d\u00fc\u015f\u00fck bir ihtimal oldu\u011funu ifade etti.<\/p>\n

Toplant\u0131n\u0131n ana konusu,\u00a0Yunanl\u0131lar, K\u0131br\u0131s Rumlar\u0131 ve Ermeni\u00a0propagandas\u0131na kar\u015f\u0131 \u00e7o\u011funluk olarak nas\u0131l daha etkili birlik olu\u015ftururuz \u015feklinde geli\u015fti.<\/p>\n

Toplant\u0131da bulunan t\u00fcm sivil toplum \u00f6rg\u00fctleri, ge\u00e7mi\u015fte olan aralar\u0131ndaki t\u00fcm farkl\u0131l\u0131klar\u0131 bir kenara b\u0131rakmaya, daha g\u00fc\u00e7l\u00fc ve etkili bir lobi kuvveti olu\u015fturmaya oy birli\u011fi ile karar verdi. Ana hatlar\u0131yla \u0130ngiltere K\u0131br\u0131s T\u00fcrk Konseyi (UK\u00a0Turkish Cypriot\u00a0Konsey) T\u00fcrk federasyonu (Turkish Federation) \u015femsiye organizasyonunun koordinasyonuna karar verildi. T\u00fcrk toplumuna d\u00fcnya \u00e7ap\u0131nda hizmet eden, Turkish Forum\u00a0D\u00fcnya T\u00fcrkleri Birli\u011fi, kitle da\u011f\u0131t\u0131m listeleriyle, halktan olu\u015fan tak\u0131mlar\u0131yla ve se\u00e7kin dan\u0131\u015fmanlar\u0131yla bu gayretleri be\u015f k\u0131tada koordine edecek.<\/p>\n
