{"id":17776,"date":"2010-03-16T01:57:46","date_gmt":"2010-03-15T23:57:46","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.turkishforum.com.tr\/en\/content\/?p=17776"},"modified":"2023-04-06T09:32:37","modified_gmt":"2023-04-06T06:32:37","slug":"kuwaiti-amir-planning-to-invest-3-billion-usd-in-turkey","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.turkishnews.com\/en\/content\/2010\/03\/16\/kuwaiti-amir-planning-to-invest-3-billion-usd-in-turkey\/","title":{"rendered":"Kuwaiti Amir planning to invest 3 billion USD in Turkey"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>The Kuwaiti Amir is planning to invest some 3 billion USD in Turkey.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"font-weight: normal\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-17777\" src=\"https:\/\/www.turkishnews.com\/en\/content\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/03\/al-Sabah.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"250\" height=\"190\" \/><\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The official consultant of Kuwait&#8217;s Amir Sabah al-Ahmad al-Jabir al-Sabah in Turkey said the Amir was planning to implement three or four giant projects in Turkey, worth 3 billion USD.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We have made 1.5 billion USD of investments in Turkey in the recent three years,&#8221; Ugur Akkas, the chairman of the Sems Turk Kuwait-Turkey investment consultancy company, told AA correspondent.<\/p>\n<p>Akkas said they had mainly invested in immovables, some portfolio purchases in the Istanbul Stock Exchange (IMKB), and tourism.<\/p>\n<p>The chairman said they planned to invest the 3 billion USD on real estates, and they were focused on Istanbul.<\/p>\n<p>Akkas said the company was also interested in hydroelectrical power plants, and defined Turkey as a country that might become <strong>the food hub of the Gulf region in coming years. <\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>&#8220;We focus on the Southeastern Anatolia Project (GAP) region in agriculture,&#8221;<\/strong> he said.<\/p>\n<p>Akkas said he thought they would increase their investments by 2012.<\/p>\n<p>Ugur Akkas also said Turkey was a favorite country after the world conjuncture had changed, and the Amir had turned his course towards Turkey and neighboring countries.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Turkey&#8217;s trade volume with Kuwait is around 500 million USD.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"font-weight: normal\"><span class=\"removed_link\" title=\"http:\/\/www.worldbulletin.net\/news_detail.php?id=55461\"><\/span>, 14 March 2010<br \/>\n<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Kuwaiti Amir is planning to invest some 3 billion USD in Turkey.
