{"id":16420,"date":"2009-12-10T03:55:16","date_gmt":"2009-12-10T01:55:16","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.turkishforum.com.tr\/en\/content\/?p=16420"},"modified":"2012-08-04T18:25:12","modified_gmt":"2012-08-04T15:25:12","slug":"armenias-edward-nalbandian-is-weak-and","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.turkishnews.com\/en\/content\/2009\/12\/10\/armenias-edward-nalbandian-is-weak-and\/","title":{"rendered":"ARMENIA&#8217;S Edward Nalbandian is weak and&#8230;&#8221;"},"content":{"rendered":"<pre>ARKADY GHUKASYAN DECLINES INTERVIEW WITH PUBLISHER APPO JABARIAN THREATENS LAWSUIT AGAINST USA ARMENIAN LIFE\r\nBy Appo Jabarian\r\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-16421\" title=\"appo\" src=\"https:\/\/www.turkishnews.com\/en\/content\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/12\/appo.jpg\" alt=\"appo\" width=\"113\" height=\"132\" \/>\r\nUSA Armenian Life Magazine\r\nNovember 25, 2009\r\n\r\nOn November 14, Appo Jabarian wrote an article in USA Armenian Life\r\nMagazine titled,<span style=\"color: #800000;\"> \"Former Pres. of Artsakh <strong><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Arkady Ghukasyan <\/span><\/strong>Says\r\nProtocols were unprofessional, and contained many mistakes;<strong> He also\r\nSays Armenia's Foreign Minister is Weak and Unprepared.\"<\/strong><\/span>\r\n\r\nAlmost immediately after the dissemination of the article, an\r\navalanche of reactions came from the media in Armenia and around the\r\nworld. Literally, dozens of various media outlets echoed the content\r\nof the article, including ArmeniaDiaspora.com, News.am, Aaravot.am,\r\n7or.am, PanArmenian.net, Lragir.am.\r\n\r\nAraManoogian.blogspot.com, ArmAr.am, Nouvelles d'Armenie Magazine (in\r\nFrench), ArmToday.info (in Russian), and Novoye Vremya (in Russian).\r\n\r\nThe media in Armenia presented various interpretations of the motives\r\nbehind Mr. Ghukasyan's statement that Pres. Serge Sargsyan \"must have\r\nacted in the wrong way, but he is a sincere and patriotic person and\r\nshouldered great responsibility,\" and that Armenia's Foreign Minister\r\nEdward Nalbandian \"is weak and unprepared.\"\r\n\r\nThe most notable reactions came in the form of accusations and\r\ndisinformation that were hurled against Appo Jabarian by Ghukasyan's\r\noffice in Yerevan which issued a denial contradicting his statements\r\nhe had made earlier.\r\n\r\nGhukasyan's denial was circulated by certain media outlets and\r\nofficials of the Armenian Foreign Ministry in Yerevan along with the\r\nConsulate General of Armenia in Los Angeles.\r\n\r\nArmenia's Consulate General in Los Angeles has never before responded\r\nto Azeri or Turkish disinformation campaigns in the United States. But\r\nthe moment this writer authored an expose of the double-talk by\r\nFormer Pres. of Artsakh -- now turned Armenia's Ambassador-at-Large\r\nArkady Ghukasyan -- Consulate officials resorted to a disinformation\r\ncampaign against him.\r\n\r\nOn November 17, Armenia's Consulate e-mailed a communique carrying\r\nfalse information against Jabarian. The communique was swiftly\r\nrebutted by the Managing Editor of USA Armenian Life Magazine. An\r\nofficial statement by the editor, countering the Armenian Consulate's\r\nmisleading e-mail was expeditiously sent to various Armenian-American\r\nmedia outlets. USA Armenian Life's \"Notice of Dissemination of a False\r\nand Libelous Statement\" informed the Armenian-American editors and\r\nTV\/Internet newscasters to \"be advised that the information titled\r\n'Republic of Armenia's Ambassador At Large, and the Vice-President of\r\nthe Board of Trustees of Armenia Fund Arkady Ghukasyan's assistant E.\r\n\r\nAtanessyan's interpretation on USA Armenian Life's news article'\r\nthat you have received from the Consulate General of Armenia in\r\nLos Angeles is False and Libelous. Its electronic and\/or print\r\ndissemination\/broadcast by your news organization may expose your\r\nbusiness entity\/entities to legal liabilities.\"\r\n\r\nOn November 18, during Mr. Ghukasyan's stay at the Hilton Hotel in\r\nGlendale, this writer had a telephone conversation with him. In order\r\nto give Amb. Ghukasyan a fair opportunity to present his rebuttal and\r\nviews regarding this issue, at the beginning of the conversation, this\r\nwriter proposed to have a taped interview either on the telephone or\r\nin person at the hotel. But he declined. And instead he demanded that\r\nthis writer disclose the source(s) of comments that were reported in\r\nthe article, otherwise, he threatened to take him and USA Armenian\r\nLife to court.\r\n\r\nWhen this blatant threat was hurled at Jabarian, the latter told him\r\n\"Mr. Ghukasyan you should remember really well as to whom you have\r\nsaid the reported comments. I encourage you very much to do so.\" Then\r\nhe immediately backpedaled and started to cajole this commentator by\r\nsaying that \"we are both patriotic people\" and that \"we shouldn't\r\nbe\r\ntalking in the language of lawsuits.\"\r\n\r\nOn November 20, USA Armenian Life's managing editor had a face-to-face\r\nmeeting with the source of the facts included in the article; and\r\nre-examined their validity, and they all proved as being solidly\r\naccurate.\r\n\r\nBelow is a partial list of headlines and comments featured by various\r\nmedia outlets that followed the lead of USA Armenian Life Magazine's\r\nNov. 14 article:\r\n\r\n- Nov. 16, News.am's title: \"Nagorno Karabagh Republic's Former Pres.\r\n\r\nof Arkady Ghukasyan Has Labeled Armenia's Foreign Minister 'as Weak\r\nand Unprepared.'\"\r\n\r\n- Nov. 16, 7or.am's title: \"Has Nagorno Karabagh Republic's Former\r\nPresident Become Honest?\"\r\n\r\n- Nov. 16, News.am title: \"Arkady Ghukasyan: Edward Nalbandian 'weak\r\nand unprepared.'\"\r\n\r\n- Nov. 16, ArmAr.am title: \"Arkady Ghukasyan Has Appealed to the\r\nDiaspora to Continue to Be Rightful Demanders [of Justice].\"\r\n\r\n- Nov. 16, Panarmenian.net title: \"Arkady Ghukasyan ascribed comments\r\nhe didn't make.\"\r\n\r\n- Nov. 16, Lragir.am carried Appo Jabarian's article in its entirety\r\nwith the following title: \"Ghukasyan's Sensation in the U.S.\"\r\n\r\n- Nov. 17, Aravot.am title: \"Is the Ambassador Disagreeable with\r\nthe President?\"\r\n\r\n- Nov. 18, Lragir.am title: \"SIMPLY A BLACKMAIL? or Guys! Money is\r\nneeded urgently!\" The author, Bagrat Kheroyan, wrote: \"The Ex-presiden\r\n\r\nof Artsakh, Arkady Ghukasyan, has made a couple of announcements in the\r\nUSA, which raise some questions: In case he is 'as honest and patriotic\r\nas Serzh Sargsyan and values Shushi so much, why doesn't he live in\r\nShushi? Wouldn't Shushi develop fast had Arkady Ghukasyan and others\r\nlike him built their palaces and launched their businesses in Shushi?\"\r\n\r\nKheroyan further wrote: \"I would suggest the Diaspora to organize\r\nfund-raising for changing the Constitution of the Republic of Artsakh\r\nand writing there that the presidents and state officials of the\r\nRepublic of Artsakh will simply be considered betrayers in case after\r\nthey serve, they live and establish their businesses out of Artsakh,\r\nespecially in Armenia.\"\r\n\r\n- On Nov. 19, Lragir.am followed up with a second commentary titled:\r\n\"SIMPLY A BLACKMAIL? No. 2; Or It Seems Like a New Stratagem is\r\nBeing Formed.\"\r\n\r\nLragir.am observed: \"It seems like the promise of a future job is\r\nthe obvious reason that Arkady Ghukasyan has mercilessly criticized\r\nand labeled ignorant ... Republic of Armenia's Foreign Minister\r\nEdward Nalbandian.
