Naval Mine Warfare Modelling and Simulation
The project involves developing object-based frameworks for mine warfare modelling for training and strategic decision making. The highlights of this project; A Visual and Interactive Simulation Pack (VISP) which runs on Microsoft Windows and is implemented using C/C++ as an extension to Visual Basic environment. Another important development from this project is the concept of "emergent event" and simulators which can handle emergent events. Emergent event here is used to describe events which are not scheduled by any component in a simulation study but occur regardless, e.g., a ship encountering a mine on its route.
